White Tara sand mandala

IMG_1297I wanted to share with you the completed, and amazingly beautiful ‘White Tara’ sand mandala.

The monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery spent all week creating this, and then after the Closing Ceremony, they brushed the sand into a pile, symbolizing impermanence to us all, shared some sand with the participants, and took the rest to Turtle Creek to pour into the river to bring healing to all sentient beings.

In the gift shop at the Crow Collection of Asian Art yesterday, they let me try this art form…making even a fat line of sand stay put, was difficult!! Amazing…
