All phenomena arise from emptiness through the illusory play of causes and conditions, and it is precisely their empty nature that allows all things to manifest.
Just as space enables the totality of the universe to unfold without itself being altered or affected in any way, or just as the sky makes possible the appearance of a rainbow, phenomena are the “adornment” of emptiness but emptiness is never tainted by them.
