Feelings are of 3 kinds:
Once we zoom in on any of them, we add layers that now become emotions.
Zoom in some more and they further turn into formations and strong grooves in our mind stream that set us up for repeating the same tendency in the future.
The pleasant we now ‘love’, ‘desire’ ,‘have to have’ etc…
The unpleasant we ‘hate’, ‘want to eliminate’ etc…
The neutral we ‘don’t care’ about…(one of the ‘whatever’s’ of our time…)
The more time and energy we spend ‘zooming in’ on something that started as a simple momentary thought or feeling, the deeper we go into attachment, aversion or indifference…the stronger the tendency and the more difficult it will be to get rid of this…
Some of us know this too well – especially around romantic relationships – and oftentimes we end up ‘holding’ these emotions until they have taken over our lives. It is now all that we can think about or focus on.
The longer we hold on, the more difficult to let go and the deeper the tendency for us to act in similar ways in the future.
All that is ever necessary is for us is to ‘watch’ the thought or feeling when it comes into our awareness, and let it go…Let is pass by, like the proverbial bird in the sky that leaves no trace…No need to label, hold on, or elaborate in any way…
Thoughts and feelings will pass on their own, given a chance, and we will make our lives so much easier if we allow for this to take place….
