The five elements in Ayurveda

image-2I have been listening to an old lecture and found this photo from Maui, which I feel would be a good one to share for these explanations from Ayurveda of the five elements….

They are, from most gross to most subtle:

1. Earth, which is associated with smell and is the ‘solid’ state of matter.

2. Water, which is associated with taste and is the ‘liquid’ state of matter.

3. Fire, which is associated with sight and is the ‘radiant’ state of matter.

4. Air, which is associated with touch and is the volatile state of matter.

5. Space, which is associated with hearing and is the ‘field’ in which all these states appear…
